Cancellation & Refund Policy
Last updated: October 21, 2026
The short version: LocalServe is free to use, you pay your Vendor directly, and cancelling a booking before any work is done costs you nothing.
1. What This Policy Covers
This policy explains how cancellations, refunds and payment problems are handled for services booked through LocalServe.
It applies to Customers who book a service and to Vendors who accept a booking. It does not change anything in our Terms & Conditions.
2. How Payment Works Today
LocalServe is free to use. We charge no booking fees and no commission, we do not process or hold payments for services, and we do not take a cut of what you pay your Vendor.
You pay your Vendor directly, at the price you agreed with them. Because the payment happens directly between you and the Vendor, any refund for the work itself has to be agreed with the Vendor.
3. Cancelling a Booking as a Customer
You can cancel a booking at any time from your Bookings page, before or after the scheduled time.
There is no cancellation fee and nothing to pay for a booking that is cancelled before any work is done.
If you cancel, please tell the Vendor through in-app messaging as soon as you can, so they can free up the slot. Repeated late cancellations or no-shows may be reviewed by our team and can lead to account limits.
4. If a Vendor Cancels or Does Not Show Up
A Vendor should tell you through in-app messaging as soon as they know they cannot make a booking.
You owe nothing for work that was not performed. If you paid a deposit or an amount in advance directly to the Vendor and the job did not happen, ask the Vendor for it back first.
Report the booking to us as well. We keep a record of cancelled and missed bookings, and we can suspend or remove Vendors who repeatedly let customers down.
5. If the Work Is Not What Was Agreed
Talk to the Vendor first, through in-app messaging, so there is a written record of what was agreed and what went wrong. Many issues are resolved that way, and Vendors want the chance to put things right.
If you cannot reach an agreement, report the booking to us within 30 days of the scheduled date. Include what you agreed, what was delivered and any photos or messages that help.
We are not a party to your agreement with the Vendor and we cannot order a Vendor to refund you. What we can do is review the report, keep it on the Vendor's record, and suspend or remove a Vendor or listing that breaks our Terms.
6. Quotes and Estimates
Some listings show an hourly or fixed price, and some are listed as a free estimate. An estimate is not a final price.
Agree the final price with the Vendor before work starts. If the final price is higher than expected, you are free to decline the work and cancel the booking at no cost.
7. Platform Fees
LocalServe charges no platform fee and no commission. Booking a service is free for Customers, and listing a service is free for Vendors.
The platform fee shown on every booking is 0%. The only amount you pay is the price you agree with your Vendor, and you pay it to them directly.
If LocalServe ever charges you an amount in error, it is refunded in full.
8. How to Raise a Refund or Cancellation Issue
Open the booking in your Bookings page and report it there, so our team can see the booking details, or send us a message with the Contact page.
You can also email us at support@local-serve.com.
Please include your booking date, the Vendor's name and what you would like to happen. We review every request and reply by email.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we add in-app payments. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.
